  • does indirect sunlight helps with vitamin D?

    Howdy,

I live in a building(I live on eleventh floor) in front of a beach, and every day I open the balcony door and sit in front(working from home), trying to get vitamin D from 3 hours of indirect sunlight. But I dont know if indirect sunlight helps, I cant go out because I am in covid risk group, and in the past(past equals to before the pandemic haha) I had problems with low vitamin D. Does indirect sunlight helps with vitamin D? thanks

disclaimer, here in Brazil covid isnt near to be controlled, also we have P1 strain, in particular where I live worst, so, no go out for a while

Vitamin D Dose is the amount of radiation energy delivered from the sun to a given area of skin at a particular latitude, angle, season, and cloud conditions. Being inside basically drops this to zero by blocking ultraviolet B radiation.

Thanks Jodan. So...it wasnt working haha, I will buy a sun protector cream, and take several 15min sunbaths per week on my balcony. I know that the only way to know if its working is measuring, but in a overly simplified way it can work?

another disclaimer, this isnt because that bullshit of vitamin D can protect you from Covid, its because I left my apartment for exact 8 time in almost 1,5 year by now. I think I need to do something by now, if I am been optimistic 6 months from now I will be in the same.

I think if you're trying to get your vitamin D in, using SPF for short sun baths like you describe would prevent that from working.

Vitamin D can be obtained from sunlight and diet, though the levels of vitamin D are more influenced by disease, whereas the opposite relationship isn't really true.
