Can you eat too many oats?

  • Can you eat too many oats?

    I eat 100-300g of oats/day. I was looking at the mineral content and it seems that every 100g has ~5mg of manganese which is 250% of DV. So for 300g, I'm getting 15mg. From what I can find, the tolerable upper intake limit is 11mg. How big of a problem is this and should I cut back?

    I don't think you're going to have any issues with this.

        For some reason, from back when I read Jordan's article on his foray into Crossfit, I remembered the line, "in the meantime I’ll keep shoveling in these 700g of carbohydrates a day" as "I'll keep shoveling in an ungodly amount of oatmeal." Maybe he mentioned oatmeal as the major constituent of the extra calories in a forum post somewhere else.

          I ate a lot of rice puff cereal those days. I don't miss them
