  • Protein bloat

Hello Ive been following a high protein diet but have been getting some solid bloating and constipation from it, is there any supplements or things i should do for transit?

    Hey Sha,

So a few questions- How long have you been on the high protein diet and what do you mean when you say "high protein"? Additionally, what does the rest of your diet look like? Finally, how long have you had the constipation and bloating for and what exactly do you mean when you say that?

I wouldn't take any supplements for it though, no.

      Thank you for your answer
Ive been trying to hit 200g a day for 2weeks now
Other than that not worrying too much about protein and carbs
Ive been constipated and bloated ever since upping the protein and only being about to hit the restroom every other day or so

It may be that your protein sources are novel or just present in a significantly higher amount. I expect this to settle down (unless something else is going on) and I'd also say that having a bowel movement every other day is fine, in general. The bloating may be uncomfortable, however, but I would want to know if you're using whey protein concentrate or a blend of whey vs. pure whey protein isolate?

Is it maybe that the food volume is high therefore supplementing with whey would help?
