  • Adding whey protein to my morning oatmeal - ok for MPS?

    I train first thing in the morning - at 5 am. About 30 min after I work out, I eat breakfast that consists of 1/3 cup of oatmeal (dry) cooked with boiling water, with about 1/4 cup of 1% milk, and a scoop of whey protein.

    Does the fiber in the oatmeal significantly affect the absorption of the protein, and does it affect muscle protein synthesis in any way?

    Yes, the fiber decreases the transit time of the meal, but this has zero impact on muscle protein synthesis.
