  • Muscle Protein Synthesis after 48 hour window?

    Hi guys,

    With Starting Strength after the 3rd workout of the week there is a 72 hour window without training.

    If my Muscle Protein Synthesis window post workout is 48 hours does meal timing (and leucine intake timing) matter between 48 and 72 hours, can you still trigger MPS every 3-5 hours after that 48 hour window? Or can you not invoke MPS after that 48 hour window?

    I think there is a misunderstanding here. Typically after a workout there is an elevation in net muscle protein synthesis above normal for 48 hours and eating properly spaced meals with protein adds to this. After 48hrs, net muscle protein synthesis rates are back to baseline- but muscle protein synthesis events still occur with meals so yes, meal timing still applies.
