  • Is a post workout meal essential for "gains"?

If one usually trains late at night, and meets their required caloric/macro needs during the day, would you still recommend a simple shake etc. as a post workout meal or is it unnecessary for adequate recovery/building muscle/getting stronger?

    Thanks in advance!

I would recommend saving some macros/cals for a post workout meal, yes.

In follow up to the above question... Is timing of a post-meal important? If i have a pre-workout protein shake along with carbs prior then do i need to have an immediate post workout shake or should i wait for the 3-5 hour window after the pre-workout shake? Thank in advance as well!

You should wait for the 3-5 hours to transpire regardless.
