While I would prefer cereals without added sugars, I don't think one meal per day containing this type of food is likely to make any difference for health.

  • Sugary Cereal for Breakfast / Pre-Workout Meal Multiple Times Per Week

    Hello!

I have recently gotten into the habit of eating sugary kid cereals (frosted flakes, lucky charms, honey nut cheerios, etc.) as a pre-workout meal ~4x/week before each of my "main" training days (currently running Powerbuilding II). I started doing this for two reasons. I eat my breakfast very close to my workout window (~30 minutes before my training), and I find that healthier breakfast options like oatmeal, fruit, eggs tend to be a little bit worse me in terms of my digestion (sometimes feeling nauseous during training, feeling sick, etc.). Additionally, I felt like the high glycemic index carbs could be beneficial for my training since I eat so close to my workouts. Otherwise, I eat a diet that primarily consists of vegetables, fruits, lean protein, whole grains, etc.

Should I stop doing this? Could this be negatively impacting my health?

    Thank you.
