  • Diet Advice - Beginner over 50

    I am a 52 year old male, current weight is 225 at 6' 3". I am starting the beginner template program and looking for diet advice to get started with body recomposition. Should I just track calories or do you recommend macro targets?

    I don't think either are where I'd start, rather I'd aim for the following:
    • eat 3 to 5 times per day, 3 to 5 hours apart
    • lean protein at every meal (~ palm-sized)
    • fruit and/or vegetable at every meal (~fist sized)
    • whole grain (oats, potatoes, brown rice, quinoa, etc.) or legumes at every meal (~fist-sized)
    • Avoid sugar sweetened beverages (e.g. drink with Calories in them) and foods with added sugar
    Do that for 4-6 weeks and then we can talk about specific dietary steps to build from there.
