There is not good evidence that MSM, glucosamine, chondroitin, fish oil, a combination thereof, or other available supplements reliably work for reducing risk of musculoskeletal injury in anyone.
Joint health is a term without meaning, so I can't comment on that.

Joint health supplementation?
From what I've read on here BBM doesn't typically recommend any combo of MSM/Glucosamine/Chondroitin/Fish oil/etc for general or joint health. That said, there do seem to be some studies that show some benefit for some individuals, depending on dose and issue, but this is a cursory reading on my part so I haven't delved into nuances.
Now of course making a recommendation on your part involves having a reasonable amount of strong evidence, since it would be a population-wide recommendation, but a lack of strong evidence doesn't necessarily mean evidence to the contrary. Is it your position that there's a lack of evidence (i.e. inadequate study design, low range of doses, low range of outcomes tested, lack of research whatsoever, etc), or that there is evidence to the contrary (or potential health risks), or perhaps that it's potentially beneficial only to a small range of individuals?
I personally ask because I'm willing to take any small potential advantage I can in addition to the larger obvious factors of load management, dietary basics, etc. Mostly concerned about small joint recovery and pain in various fine-motor applications and a seemingly abnormal tendency towards joint pain.Tags: None
