  • Inconsistent fish intake

I live with someone who is allergic to fish, and will vomit at even the smell of fish.

This means that my own seafood intake is somewhat variable.

The recommendation in the UK is for at least 2 portions of fish a week, including 1 of oily fish.

Looking at my food log, I would estimate that my yearly intake would be at most 20 portions, mostly white fish and some salmon.

I don't particularly want to turn to supplementation in the medium or long term, as it doesn't address the underlying problem, and my understanding is it's not required unless there is a specfic need.

However, while I look for ways to increase my fish and seafood intake given my situation (eg preparing and eating fish outside in the garden in the summer, eating in restaurants occasionally etc), should I consider taking some fish oil?

I would not recommend a fish oil supplement even in the event someone ate NO FISH. Doesn't seem to do any good.
