  • Numb ring finger tip

    Hi,

i just realised that my right hand ring finger tip is numb. I still have feeling in it so it isnt completely numb but more like a tingling feeling when i touch the finger tip. I googled and it seems that it has to do with the ulnar nerve. Some data on me:

    - 37 yo
    - male
    - right handed
    - did ssnl (~10 weeks) and doing the bridge 1 for like 4 weeks
    - toes and other fingers seem to be fine (no numbness)

    My questions:

    1) Should i see an orthopaedic doc as soon as possible (would be likely getting an appointment mid/end next week

    2) If i shouldnt see a doc right away, how long should i wait for some improvement before seeing one

    3) Can i do something myself for maybe finding out what it is exactly and/or improving the situation?

    4) If i go see a doc, is there something i should know before going there?

    5) Sometimes i am feeling a little elbow pain after/while squatting. Totally managable and i try to figure out a hand position where i dont get problems like the ones Austin/Alan describes. But could this still be (potentially) the cause (if it is an ulnar nerve entrapment problem)

    Thanks for your help

      Hey Jab,

This likely warrants a consult for individualistic advice.
      Has this issue occurred previously?
How often are you noticing numbness to the area? Is it constant? If not, how long does the episode last? Are you able to move the finger without issue?

      1) At this point, it doesn't sound like something to be overly concerned with.
      2) Difficult to state. A good sign is if things don't worsen (numbness spreads or you lose ability to move the effected area).
      3) Potentially but this would likely take a consult to help figure out.
      4) See above points.
      5) Certainly could be related.

      Happy to help.

        A) No, this is the first time I am experiencing this
        B) It is constant
        C) Yes i can move the finger(s) without any problem

I'm reopening this thread because the issue still exists. Elbow pain seems to be worsening to a kind of constant pain. Hard to describe, not a constant pain but more like a weird feeling. Numbness seems to spread, although i dont know whether i am just overly aware of things. I can move everything quite well, but the tip of the middle finger and maybe even the forearm feels "weird".

I just filled out the pain/rehab/consult form
