  • Spinal Cord Stimulator?

What's your view on a spinal cord stimulator implant for pain relief someone with severe chronic pain following a spinal cord injury?

    Hi there,

While I have experience with patients who have spinal cord stimulators in place, this is most often in the context of other medical issues. Decisions about SCS implantation and how effective they may be for a given clinical situation is unfortunately outside my typical scope, and I'm quite limited in the amount of time I have at the moment to review this evidence. Sorry about that.

Oh well. Thank you anyway. One virtue of the implantable spinal cord stimulator is that standard protocol is to test it before implanting it so that there's some assurance it works to reduce pain. Another is that it can be removed if there are problems.
