  • New Templates/New Exercises, Recommended form?

Hi there. I've recently bought a few of the new templates and have started Hypertrophy II, looks great.

I'm a little unsure what form I should use for shrugs and hip thrusts.

Barbell Shrugs: do you recommend power shrugs as in Rip's video from a few years back? Or a slower more bodybuilding style?
Hip Thrusts: never done these before. Been scanning the youtubes on these and it seems there is a generally correct form. Any videos you'd recommend for a good foundation?

    Cheers,
    Mark

    MJL,

I think shrugs for higher reps should be done slower and deliberately vs. an explosive movement.

For hip thrusts, I like this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM8XHLYJoYs

Thanks Jordan. Had a feeling slower might be more appropriate for high reps. Cheers

I wanna jump in on this:

    Split Squats
    - do you guys prefer this movement with a barbell and with both feet on ground?
    - any other form considerations? Like how far forward should the front foot be, back angle etc
    - any considerations when choosing between this and Step Ups? Just personal preference?

Split squats are done with both feet on the ground, whereas "Bulgarian split squats" (or rear foot elevated split squats) have the rear foot elevated.

That being said, there isn't one form we feel like is universally better. In general, we want your torso to be pretty vertical and your legs' position to accommodate that.

Yes, and SSB is the safety squat bar.
