I recently pulled 150kg @8 for a single and messed up my hand pretty good that session. I then found out that you're supposed to grip the bar more around the finger instead of inside the palm. But then I am wondering if I should use straps to continue progress or if I should restart at a lighter weight to build up my grip again.

I think I'd default to using the correct grip with chalk and see how that works for you before managing the grip issue with a deload. I think you'll be fine
