    I have always been told that to build more musculature/hypertrophy your rest intervals should be shorter...is there any fact in this statement or is citation desperately needed? Thank you.

    Depends on how short you're referring to. But this general idea is incorrect, and inconsistent with the overall evidence base on the matter. We tend to have people rest anywhere from 2-5 minutes, on average, between sets.
