  • Design and Purpose of Back off sets

I've noted that many of the templates include back off sets that are 75%-80% of the weight at RPE nine for 2-4 sets. Is this the standard intensity for back-off sets and is the purpose to work in additional volume at an intensity that isn't too high?

    Thanks.

    Sunil,

The intensity range for volume work is going to depend on the target average intensity, rep range, goals, and individual's response. That said, the general idea is to provide volume with manageable load, yes.
