  • Deciding between beginner RX, the bridge and GPP.

    Good morning all;

I'm a 43 year old 6'6" 245 pound male finishing the SSLP. I have dropped 20 pounds while following linear progression (yes I realize I'm not doing the program) and am looking for my next step.

Thinking of running a keto diet while on 5/3/1 with lots of foam rolling and stretching. And I have metabolic damage.

    Kidding, sorry.

Goals (in order): Don't hit myself, fat loss, increased strength, increased endurance,

Looking for thoughts on if I should:

    A). 8 wk Bridge
    B) 7 wk GPP 3 day since I would like to drop another 20 pounds over the next four months,
    C) Work the second and third phases of the beginner prescription

Options D: Shut up, chop wood, carry water and not worry so long as I'm on a decent program and making progress.

Fore reference, I have an unimpressive set of lifts; 100lb press x5, 210x5 squat, 260x5 dead, and 155lb x5 bench. Don't care. Just want to keep working.

    WTS,

Thanks for the post and for joining the forum. Happy to have you here

I think for the weight loss, I would follow the advice given here: https://youtu.be/O2lxBRCaHKk?t=1192

For the programming, there are a myriad of options that would support your goals. If I were able to choose for you, I'd run the 2nd and 3rd phase of The Beginner Template.

Let me know what you think!

I think I am surrounded by people that know more than me, and think more deeply about these topics.

With that in mind, I think for weight loss I'll
      A) aim for a 250g protein, 250g carb, 70g fat macro mix and
      B) start running beginner phase 2.

      2020: Chop wood, carry water.
