  • Fasted training and steady state cardio

Is there anything terribly wrong with doing the beginner template without having a meal prior, I.e., fasted? What are the pros and cons of fasted training?

For the steady state cardio, is 65% of max heart rate a good number to use? I notice on the gym treadmill it says 65% of max heart rate is optimal for fat burn (110 beats per min in my case).

For the steady state, we would advise using RPE over a strict heart rate zone.

Training fasted is fine if you want to, though you may find that you have less energy to train. If it improves dietary adherence however, that may be a worthwhile trade-off.
