  • Deadlift + pull-ups, exclusively

I have little kids and so not much time at the gym. I'm lucky to lift 2-3x a week, and I go at night and so don't have a lot of time, without cutting into sleep. I like deadlifts, so I've just been doing deadlifts.

At home I have a pull-up bar, so I do daily pull-ups/chin-ups (weighted and unweighted). They're convenient because I can do them at the playground when I'm with the kids.

I know this is not the most efficient program for gaining strength and that squats and presses are good. But if I just do deadlifts and pull-ups for a while, is that a terrible idea? I can't think of anything wrong with it, besides inefficiency, but I'm generally ignorant about physiology and exercise.

Ideally you'd get a bit of conditioning in too, but other than that -- sounds fine to me, based on your current circumstances.
