  • Bodybuilding template and muscle group frequency

    Hello,

A common saying is that there are benefits to training muscle groups several times per week. In the bodybuilding template, both quads and hamstrings are programmed once a week. I realize that this is still "legs" twice per week, and it's not that I don't believe in the template, but I would appreciate some clarification on this. I'm very aware that I have no scientific basis for questioning the template. Hence the question

Looking forward to beginning on the program!

Frequency doesn't seem to have much effect, if any, on hypertrophy or strength until volumes are very high >15 sets per muscle group. Quads and hamstrings are both trained multiple times per week on that particular template though

I see, thank you. Are you referring to hamstring activation from the "classic front of the legs" exercises on day 1, and vice versa for quads and "back side" exercises? I hope I'm not spoiling the template.

Thanks again for your reply and your impressive presence on these forums and on social media.

It is very difficult to isolate just the hamstrings or quads without specialized machines and there's obviously some crossover during compound lifts.
