I just read an article from “Stronger by Science” about the correlation between resistance training and all-cause mortality in older lifters. (“What is the optimal does of resistance training for longevity?”—Nuckols) It said 30-60 minutes of resistance training per week is good (that’s not a typo) and 130-140 minutes of resistance training per week may in fact increase the risk of all-cause mortality.
I’m 82, I play pickleball three times a week and I do a treadmill twice a week. So two 30 minute sessions a week would fit my time available but would they really maintain my fitness? Your thoughts?
