  • Bending elbows on deadlift

    I've recently watched footage of my deadlift and I've noticed right when the bar reaches the knee on a heavy deadlift I have a tendency to try to upright row the weight. Would this be corrected easier with paused deadlifts where the problem initiates to cue myself to have long straight arms?

    I would just try cueing the triceps during your regular deadlift first, having someone yell at you, and/or smacking you in the triceps/elbows before starting your reps.

      I'm on a low stress this coming week but my pause deads come first should I just do a beltless deadlift this training block instead of have it remain paused dl tues and comp Friday? Would pause potentially mess me up?

        I don't know anything about your programming, man. Do whatever your programming plan says, but regardless of the pull you can still cue yourself to keep the elbows straight. That's all there is to it.
