  • Toe angle during squats

    Hi everyone
General recommendation for squats is to turn the toes slightly out but what if someone feels more comfortable with their feet pointed more forward like almost completely straight. Is there any real danger for the knees?I feel that turning the toes out to about 30 degrees makes my knees cave in so i turn my feet more forward.

I do not think a toes-forward stance presents inherent danger to the knees. However, it is unlikely that turning your toes out MAKES your knees cave in ... but rather, you do not possess the requisite strength to keep your knees out, and I think this is something that should be trained.

      .

How do you suggest training this? Bands around the knees? "Bad girls"? Just focusing on keeping knees out more?

Sorry to derail, but I've always struggled with a bit of knee cave. I have very flat feet, which can contribute to this (from what I've read). Any suggestions?

Ensuring correct stance width, toe angle, and yes, focusing on keeping the knees out. This may require a temporary reduction in load to work on.
