  • Fingernail Removal

I had a little accident this weekend and long story short had to go to the ER to get the fingernail on my left index finger removed. Does anyone have experience with how long it takes for this to heal enough to get back to normal lifts? It's been 5 days now and I've done things like leg press and abs. I have also done DB bench and press with my right hand only as it's too painful to grip with my left hand at the moment

It's mentally killing me that I can't train like I want to and I'm curious if anyone else has had a fingernail removed and how long it took before they could train normally again.

You could try just not gripping with your index finger and use straps for deadlifts

Last year I ripped my left middle finger nail off at work dropping a skid steer track on it and benched the next day. I've ripped various nails off several times and I'd say it takes two or three days to heal over and start growing a new nail.
I don't know maybe you just heal slower.

I actually had 100% surgically removed and had to get stitches in my nail bed and cuticle. It's becoming less sensitive now, but still no way I can deadlift yet. I've just been training everything but deadlift and substituting glute ham raises, hyper extensions, and hamstring curls in the mean time.
