I executed my first pin squats, and I am unsure of my technique. I found it very difficult to keep my back set and tight once I hit the pins, which made it difficult to travel back up. I don't know if part of my issue was that I no longer had the expected "bounce" due to setting down on the pins which caused me to relax without thinking. Granted, it was only my first session and I might improve as I practice this movement more, but does anyone have any advice related to their experience on these?

There is no difference between squat technique and pin squat technique. The pin squat, like most squat variations, can shine a microscope on issues in your general squat form. Without video I'm not able to tell you what you're doing wrong, but the odds are the issue exists in your comp squat as well, just not as noticeable.
