"Really lets you know if your Valsalva and bracing are on point." - I suspect that is my issue, and I will focus on that the next time I execute this variation.
I executed my first pin squats, and I am unsure of my technique. I found it very difficult to keep my back set and tight once I hit the pins, which made it difficult to travel back up. I don't know if part of my issue was that I no longer had the expected "bounce" due to setting down on the pins which caused me to relax without thinking. Granted, it was only my first session and I might improve as I practice this movement more, but does anyone have any advice related to their experience on these?
Pretty much t how it works. The utility is being able to stay tight and push back against a more or less dead weight. Really lets you know if your Valsalva and bracing are on point.
Here's MIke T showing how crazy strong he is. Presumably his camera was at RPE 10 @180p..
That is a very useful insight! I will use my issue as an opportunity to analyze and discover a form deficiency. Thanks PWard for your answer and the time you spend answering other posts on this forum as your answers are always quite helpful
There is no difference between squat technique and pin squat technique. The pin squat, like most squat variations, can shine a microscope on issues in your general squat form. Without video I'm not able to tell you what you're doing wrong, but the odds are the issue exists in your comp squat as well, just not as noticeable.
