    Hi BBM

    When trying to reach a higher or lower rpe what is standard procedure +-2.5% or +-5 percent

    Sorry for the dumb question just finished week1 of the beginner template

    It depends. 5% is probably a good place to start as a novice. Your lifts most likely aren't heavy enough yet where 5% would be too big of a jump. Adjust accordingly if you find that you're routinely overshooting or undershooting your prescribed RPE on certain lifts.

    Personally, I don't really think about it in terms of percentages. I've found that +10-15 lbs is usually +1 RPE for squat and deadlift. +5-10 lbs is usually +1 RPE for bench. Fatigue definitely plays a role in how big of a jump I can take.
