Avoiding staleness

Hello, id like some general tips on avoiding staleness, with some context that I’m about to mention

  • No plans on competing any time soon, just off season strength building sort of
  • I usually cycle between a couple of volume oriented mesocycles, (higher reps, more variagion etc) than a couple of strength orientated more specific mesocycles (fahves and stuff) one after another and so on

But what about doing a mesocycle, seeing solid gains from it and then not switching to something else, and just repeating it?
How often do you guys do this, do you think that training needs to change more frequently? Also any tips on how to structure off season training (when there is no plan for competing) right now im not using any BBM templates, as they are structured to lead me to a test / meet day. Thank you for your time.

David,

If your current training is going well, I see no reason to change it and wouldn’t do it unless I had good reason. If/when the results start to stagnate, that’s a pretty good indication that some element(s) may benefit from change.

Hopefully that makes sense.
