How should you be doing back extensions I think I’ve been doing hip extensions instead

Either way is fine, but here is how I differentiate the two:

  • Back extension- focus on flexion (eccentric phase) of each spine segment and extension of these segments during the concentric phase
  • Hip extension- focus on keeping the spine relatively static (e.g. minimal flexion/extension) and then flex/extend at the hips mostly
