Bench and Press Plugin

Hello, I have been using the Bench and Press Plugin, and progress has been going well until I went in today a little bit sick. I was completing workout A, feeling very drained due to my sickness and decided to drop the weight for bench and overhead press by roughly 5 pound in order to complete the sets at RPE 8 or less. I was wondering if this was the right thing to do, and if so, should I be lifting my normal weights on my next workout A or start adding weight from today’s lifts? Thanks

That is the appropriate thing to do when following an auto regulated program.

Next workout I would re-assess how you’re feeling and performing. If you’re over your illness, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to lift your normal weights again – but I can’t predict exactly what will happen.

Thank you for the reply. However I was wondering, if I had dropped the volume instead of the intensity, would that have been detrimental?

Potentially. I see that you have made two threads about the plug-in and we would recommend following it as written without modification until it stops working. At that time, we would recommend stopping LP.

Yes sir. However, I read on your article that once LP stops on the plugin, you recommended us to switch to the bridge. But when I have a look at the volume for all all the pressing on the bridge, it seems to be much lower than the plugin itself. Wouldn’t this cause us to become detrained? Or is there something I haven’t accounted for.

Also if my presses are the only thing that has stalled, would it be okay to just follow the bridge with only the presses and GPP, while doing my own form of work for my legs and back? I am only really concerned about my upper body.

Yes, the average intensity and movement selection.

I would not recommend that. I would recommend getting off LP immediately in favor of a more appropriate program based on your goals.
