Evidence based version of “What to expect”

My wife and I are expecting our first child and I want to be decent at this whole dad thing. All of the content I’ve found on dealing with babies reminds me heavily of the early days of me getting into fitness. Tons of appeal to naturalism and claims without citation but the stakes are higher this time around because I’m not reading bad material in hopes of just making my medium shirts tighter.

Question: is there a good evidence based resource for new/expecting parents that either of you would recommend?

Check out Emily Oster’s books.

Yep. I really enjoyed Crib Sheet.

Great - thank you both!

I hope you guys have a way of seeing activity on old posts. I’m doubling back to thank you for the Emily Oster recommendation. My wife and I both read Expecting Better and Cribsheet and these books were exactly what I was looking for. My son is about a year and a half old now, and every part of the process has been so much less stressful than it would have been had I not taken your recommendation. You guys should somehow add “basinet” to the “with you from bench to bedside” catchphrase.
