Hi Team,
I’m about to begin Block 2 of the Low Fatigue GS&C program which calls for 4 @ 70% E1RM for a high bar squat. It’s been years since I’ve squatted high bar so am wondering if you recommend a way to ballpark an E1RM in the warm up. A set of 4 at REP 8?
Thanks,
Angus
Hi, it’s just meant to be a deload squat weight. It should not be near 4 reps @ RPE 8, as 70% is ~ a 10-12RM for most folks. So, more like 4 reps @ RPE 5 (or less). It should be relatively light if you choose to stick with the default squat pattern. You could also select the same squat pattern you used in Block 1 and do that, using 70% of the last week’s e1RM.
Thanks Jordan.
Sorry, I was unclear in my initial post. Should I work towards a set that will find my e1RM for high bar squat first for this block, then do the 2 sets of 4 reps at 70%? If this is too much for the deload week then I reckon I can just aim for two sets of about RPE 4-5.
Angus
Ah, nah. I would aim to do something light (RPE 4-5) and then sort out the HBBS starting week 2.
