Heavy walkouts and Partial Squats?

Would be interested to know people’s views and experience on the value of heavy walkouts for squat, and of heavy partial squats?

I’m always struggling to hit predicted 1RMs as the bar just feels intimidatingly heavy. Was wondering if others found benefit in the neural and/or psychological merits of just standing with a Supramaximal weight (110% of e1RM) across the shoulders, and/or doing some partials at high intensity?

Thanks.

Not terribly useful for the fatigue generated compared to doing submaximal singles IMO.

Sure. Thanks as always Jordan.
I’ve had an interesting experience with them recently whereby they have enhanced my confidence and helped me psychologically. This is very much my situation though and pure anecdote. After a period of small setbacks walkouts and partials helped me get confident under heavier loads again, and made my working sets feel a lot more manageable. Maybe they have a role in the comeback phase for some. I am one of these lifters who is good at 70-80%, with handling volume but cracks a bit with higher intensities.

Yea, this is the major argument for doing singles -typically in the 90-95% range. Much better than heavy walkouts or partials IMO, but everyone is different and has different preferences. Still, I don’t routinely recommend them over singles.
