How can we stop food companies from exploiting the "net carb" myth?

It’s easy to get duped by food companies mislabeling their calorie content by failing to include calories from fibrous carbs in the calorie calculation.

How does the FDA keep letting them get away with this?

Is there anything the average person can do to discourage this type of dishonest marketing?

I suppose you could write your senator and organize an activist group against this stuff to try and initiate policy change.

That said, most people probably aren’t being duped by food companies in that they’re “tricked” into eating calorie-dense, palatable foods. There are a lot of different inputs here that conspire against the average American.

I suppose I could be an anomale, but I don’t feel personally “duped” by net carb labeling because I don’t pay any attention to it. However, both my wife and one of my sons are currently adhering to keto (with good results), and they rely on these labelings to select certain foods.
