# How can you determine blood pressure if....

I have always had what they call “ white coat syndrome “ ? The second I get my blood pressure read my anxiety skyrockets and I become filled with adrenaline and my heart races. Is there an accurate way to determine your true blood pressure / heart rate when this is happening?

24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is preferred for this purpose.

Additionally, even among those without white coat syndrome, ABPM predicts long-term complications from high blood pressure better than office measurements.
