i was wondering about the main lift variations and the weight everybody performs them. Should they be lighter than the main lifts? I don’t imagine being heavier would be the case, but I could be wrong. Messing with the RPE chart in the bridge and I’m figuring which weight I should start with but it’s all based off of my e1RM for the normal lift. I could always titrations down during the lifts, but I’d like to be as accurate as I can beforehand.
There are so many threads about this. Each variation is a unique lift. There is no correlation that can be drawn across the population for any specific variation. You simply use RPE day 1 to find the right weight in the workout. If you have no data, you can’t go in with any idea of what you’re going to do.
Yep, you gotta just figure it out. If you’ve never done the exercise before, how are you supposed to already know which weight takes what subjective effort (RPE)? Pay attention to the RPE’s in your warm ups, use the chart and you’ll be fine. It’s going to take a bit of guess work.
