Managing expectations (aka non-responder complex)

Just completed the Hyp1 template and just wondering if the dose was correct for me on these templates as I’m not seeing much difference after following these programs very strictly for the last 6 months.

Is this reasonable progress or is the dose / response below what one might expect?

I welcome any experienced advice on managing expectations.

These were starting stats before the Beginner Template:

51 yo
16 Jul 19: 147lb.
Waist: 32"

e1RMs

Bench: 78 kg
Squat: 86 kg
Sumo: 124 kg

These are my finishing stats after Hyp 1:

16 Jan 20: 158lb.
Waist:32.5"

e1RMs

Bench: 89 kg
Squat: 106 kg
DLsumo: 143 kg

Here are before and after pics:

Alex,

I think this is pretty good. 10lbs (4.5kg) in 2 months is a pretty decent weight gain for only 0.5" of waist increase. I think that, coupled with an increase in your 1RM marks a pretty decent improvement from a single template. Nice work! I’d re-run it if I had these results

Thanks for the feedback Jordan

Unfortunately the gainz and increase in 1RMs were closer to 6 months and from running 2 templates: the Beginner and Hyp 1.

Still OK do you think?

Anyway even if it is a pretty poor response, what am I gonna do - not train?

My mistake! Even for 6 months, really. We predict that gaining more than ~ 6kg of LBM in 6 months probably represents above average response and/or the use of anabolics so you’re doing okay, man. Keep up the good work.
