I’m wondering what the impact of missing a full night’s sleep (so not sleeping for 36-40 hours) has on body composition? I’ve been having to skip a night of sleep about twice a month regularly on weekends due to various reasons including catching up on work so I’m wondering. Is there anything that I can do to rectify the harm to my body composition besides catching up on sleep the next subsequent nights? Thanks!
I obviously can’t quantify the effect on your body composition, though it’s safe to say it isn’t benefitting you. I have to do something similar when I’m on call in the hospital, and haven’t necessarily noticed drastic changes myself.
I wouldn’t panic about doing “harm to your body”, but the main thing you should do is find a way to not need to do that over the long term.
