Is there a smart way to modify the time crunch template so you get some exposure to the Olympic lifts? Like substituting an exercise for power snatch one day, subbing another for cleans, etc?

I’ve been brain-storming, but feel pretty doubtful about my alterations.

Really appreciate your time

I generally categorize most power variants of the Olympic lifts as hinge type exercises, so you could substitute one in for the supplemental hinge if you prefer. Alternatively, you could do some power cleans or snatches as your warm up for DLs from the ground.

Oh awesome! Would you recommend performing the myorep hinge substitutions as myoreps still? (ie: sub RDL/leg press for oly variant and perform myo reps) Or, would you recommend changing the set/reps for 1@8, 5@9?

If I’m honest, I wouldn’t recommend doing any of this 😂 I think the Olympic lifts take a relatively high amount of time to train productively. That said, training enjoyment is a big part of adherence as you know, so I think it’s fine overall.

I think you’re working off the 1st generation time crunch template based on the programming you laid out here. There are no myoreps or singles in the 2nd Generation of time crunch template, for example. If you _wanted_ to do singles, you could do an EMOM. Something like: 1 rep @ 70% EMOM x 12 min. Alternatively, I would do ~15-minute block of doubles or triples between 65-80%. Probably get ~ 5 sets or so done in there.

😂 that’s a really good point. I’ve got 3-4 months where I have less time to train. I’m worried if I don’t practice any oly lifting, I’ll lose the mediocre skills I’ve built in that time. But maybe it’s not even worth it given your point. Maybe better to just start the oly template after the 3-4 months are over. Idk. At the very least, I’d like to power clean and power snatch sometimes.

I am working off the 1st gen V2, I didn’t realize 2nd gen had come out!

If you think the singles/15 min blocks could work, I’d absolutely be down to do that

If maintaining your Olympic lifting skills are important to you, you should continue to train them in some fashion. If not, then you can dedicate that time to other training. I don’t think it’ll matter in a year’s time either way, so there’s no wrong answer. Promise!
