Neck Pain part I Qs

Dear Drs. Miles, Ray, and Amato,

In the neck pain part I article, Dr. Ray wrote

“Daily walking (8190 steps vs. 7044 over a 6-month period) can reduce risks of developing neck pain by 78% (Sitthipornvorakul 2020). A modest increase in daily activity contributed to the decrease of neck pain.”

Does this mean that the people who walked 8190 steps reduced risks of developing neck pain by 78% relative to those who had walked 7044 steps?

Sincerely,

Eddie Mun

Yes, comparatively to the other group there was a 78% reduction in incidence of neck pain. See table 3 for breakdown of steps by month between groups.

Thank you for your response!
