Opinions on very high protein intake (as suggested by Martin Berkhan)

So I have recently read a book by Martin Berkhan in which he recommends a pretty insanely high protein intake (50/60 % of daily calories). How do you feel about that? His reasoning for this is the higher termic effect of protein, higher satiety and the muscle sparing effect. I tend to eat way more protein than the recommended 1 gram / lb as I generally enjoy my protein rich foods more than others.

I think that recommendation is outlandish and verifiably inane.

The higher thermic effect of food, satiety, or muscle sparing doesn’t have a dose: response relationship without a maximum. Where that falls is likely in the 20-30% total cals from protein unless someone is very calorie restricted, then it’s higher.
