I tried searching the forums and google but couldn’t find any information relevant to this. So apologies if it’s been asked before.
What is the correct warmup when preparing for 1 rep @ 8?
I saw a few youtube videos but they seemed to contradict one another. I’m worried I may lift too little (1 @ 6), and not be able to lift my true @8 potential.
There is no one “correct” way to warm up, and I would encourage you not to put too much significance on absolute performance in any one training session. If you under-shoot a bit one week, nothing is lost, and you’ll have more experience to better calibrate the following week.
Just wanted to say thank you for continually reminding all of us that there is no “perfect” and we will get better at all of the lifting related skills over time as we continue to practice said skills.
I personally feel a much higher level of self-efficacy and ability to drive my training in a continually improving direction. More than anything it is very comforting to not hold myself to being “perfect.” Instead I hold myself to “what can I improve.”
