Questions about using Beginner Template

Hi Jordan,

I hope your recovery from surgery went well.

I (athlete in powerlifting) have two questions regarding using the Beginner Template (I’ve been running it for my mum, who’s at the age of 60 and had cancer treatment before).

  1. For the column “Supplement”, there are two boxes: “Conditioning or None” and “Notes”. In the first phase (From week 1 to week 4), do I need to fill those two boxes with anything (Like None in the first box, for example)?

  2. In the GPP cardio box, does the part of “walking extra 2000 steps per day in 5-10 bouts” belong to 25 (or 30) minutes of steady cardio RPE 6-7?

  3. Also, that extra 2000 steps per day is compared to previous week (so at week 3 my mum would have to walk 6k steps extra)? Or it’s only 2k steps extra compared to the number of steps she often walks on her daily basis before getting into training, and maintain that with extra 2k for a whole training phase without increasing every week?

Thanks for the kind words. I’m healing up nicely. For your questions:

  1. Nothing to do here. These are just placeholders.
  2. The walking is “extra” conditioning on top of the programmed steady state.
  3. The extra steps do not add week to week, they’re just listed as-is. It’s just 2k extra steps in this example.
