Returning to the gym .... again

Im sure you get tired of these, and ive read returning to the gtm, but never feel like I have a good feel for the taper and on ramp. My current situation.

I was making solid progress with Powerbuilding 2 Gen 2 before life got in the way on multiple fronts. From mid-April through early May I was training very sporadically (maybe 3–4 sessions total) due to the onset of a bad sinus infection that coincided with an extremely demanding stretch at work — I was putting in long hours at my regular job while simultaneously pushing hard for a promotion. Between feeling run down and the time demands, training fell off almost entirely, and then from roughly May 10th through now I’ve been completely out of the gym. Realistically I’m looking at close to two months of little to no training. The sinus infection got bad enough that I finally saw a physician, got on antibiotics, and I’m only now starting to feel like myself again. I’m ready to get back at it, but I’m still operating under some time constraints — not as extreme as the past month, but tighter than normal. My question: given the length of this layoff, should I restart the Beginner Program to rebuild the base properly, or would the Time Crunch Template be the more practical re-entry point given my current schedule? Also curious how long I should realistically expect it to take before I’m back to training at a normal volume, i.e powerbuilding 2, assuming tome constraints are removed. As usual, Any guidance appreciated and excited to get back to training.

I don’t think this really needs a lot of specific management. I’d just restart what program you were on before (or one of your choosing now) and do the intro (low stress) week twice for your on ramp. Most of my “caution” here comes from the recent illness and its affects on training load tolerance, not the layoff per se’. I suspect little non-illness-related detraining otherwise happened in the time frame.

Still, if in the time constrained period, the Time Crunch template would be right up your alley, yes.
