Schmorl Node

Hi,
I had an acute lower back pain while walking which made it unbearable to stand or sit straight. Got an x-ray done and was diagnosed with Schmorl Node. Getting some d3 shots and resting up. The pain is slowly subsiding. The PT has advised to first strengthen the L4 disc area and then go ahead with lifting. I be worried in the long term? Will it affect my training or daily lifestyle in general?

Hey Prafull Saran - thanks for the questions. Have you had an opportunity to listen to our discussion on low back pain experiences? Check out our podcast HERE if you’ve not.

Generally speaking, schmorl nodes isn’t a finding I would be concerned with. From the sounds of it, we likely wouldn’t agree with current management and recommendations. For a general discussion on managing through these situations, please see this article Pain in training: What do?.

For individual advice, we’d be happy to consult with you remotely. If you are interested, please complete our intake paperwork HERE.

Thank you Dr. Ray for the quick response. Yes I have listened to the podcast and also gone through the article, but nevertheless I have submitted the intake paperwork. Looking forward to hearing from you.
