Shoulder pain when arm abducted from body

Hey,

I think this may have been done in my sleep but, I awoke three days ago with a pain in only my left shoulder when i lift it away from my body, i’m not sure if this would follow the advice with back pain to move it more and continue to go though the pain or not. Pain had seemed to get a little better as i was able to bench, but after trying to self massage it which i maybe shouldn’t have done it feels worse, like the initial day. Hurts more now even if i just lift the shoulder/ arm. What should i do?

If there was no clear acute injury to the area, the first step would be to keep moving as much as you can and see how things go. But we unfortunately don’t have enough history or a physical exam to be able to figure out much more than that. Sorry.

Thanks, will start to move it more. Just as a precaution if it was more sensetive as I moved it backwards (elbows pointed back arms parallel to floor. Would that hint at anything different?
