Suitable programs for me

Hi -

My current 1RM on squat, bench, deadlift is 350, 260, 485 (lbs). My OHP 1RM is 195lb. I have a little over 12 months barbell lifting experience doing SSNLP and then HLM and some Texas Method routines at times. I would consider myself an intermediate level lifter. Apologies in advance if my question comes across gratuitous, but what BBM programs would be suitable for me? I am mainly interested in increasing my strength on the powerlifts, but would like my OHP to go up as well. I took the program quiz and followed the BBM training path on your website, but got conflicting recommendations. For instance, program quiz recommended I start with “Strength I” however BBM training path says do “Time Crunch, GS&C II, PB II, Strength 3 or Strength 4 (also I don’t see a Strength 4 template)”.

Thank you in advance! Appreciate you guys.

Mike

Hey Mike,

I’d do either Strength I or Powerbuilding 1 for your goals. If it were me, I’d pick powerbuilding to diversify your training portfolio compared to what you’ve previously done. I’d write-in OHP for movement 2 on day 1 (3-day version) or day 3 (4-day version). I do think it’s challenging to prioritize both bench and OHP at the same time, and generally advise against it for strength-focused people. I do think you can train both, but these would both be bench-focused programs. Later, you could run Strength II or III, with OHP as the focus. That’d be my plan. Plus, our programs are 30% off for memorial day
