Hi,
It strikes me that Austin pulls heavy deadlifts very quickly. Just a breath and a pull, like you literally pick the bar off the ground. Although I don’t think that technique will make me pull more, it could save me from the moments of agony between grabbing the bar and pulling
I spend a fair amount of time setting my back. Somehow I get the feeling that speeding it up a little could help mentally…
So if you’re willing to share that secret I’d be very grateful!
Arthur
It’s obviously not a secret, sorry for the poor wording. Just curious how you manage to do the setup so quickly as I think it could help me.
Lots and lots of consistent, deliberate practice, plus taking videos of myself regularly.

This is literally how to get better at anything. It’s easy to forget “consistent” & “deliberate”.
Yes and since I am capable of doing that in general, I was curious how you practice a faster setup in particular.
I honestly don’t even know what an answer to this question would look like beyond what I’ve mentioned above: deliberately practicing moving through the steps more quickly, and double checking using video.
I don’t do anything other than deadlift in order to practice, warm up, or train for the deadlift.
