Validity of Blood Testing for Food Allergies

Hey Docs,

My sister in law was recently having some symptoms, and apparently her doctor (I’m trying to determine whether she saw a real doctor or a homeopath/naturalpath) did some kind of test and diagnosis which is suggesting she is highly allergic to corn, potatoes, rye, and wheat, and then mildly allergic to a handful of other things. She is only 20 years old, and I don’t know the extent of her symptoms, but given how much people buy into stuff around food sensitivities and allergies in general on Instagram and the like, a part of my brain was triggered and I wondered what you guys thought?

It’s not clear what specific tests were ordered, but these generally do not have a great degree of validity.

Here’s a good article on the topic (though it’s written at the medical level): https://www.jaci-inpractice.org/article/S2213-2198(17)30704-3/fulltext?mobileUi=0

Thanks for this!
