As I understand it, the hypertrophy effect i.e. the repairing of busted-up muscle fibers after a session of training, is over around 48 hours after the stimulus.
So what is the physiological nature of this “fatigue” that is accumulated and dissipated over the span of weeks? What is the magical substance I am regaining during a peak or deload? I certainly perceive the ebb and flow of fatigue within my own training, and I am not discounting it as not being a useful training model. I just want to know what it is.
Thanks!
